TSA: Fatal Flaws
Fact: US aviation and airport security were known to be weak and poorly-managed before 9/11. Report after report was made to congress, which did nothing.
Example: The head of FAA security at BOS was known to be incompetent before 9/11. Security at BOS was a documented mess.
Fact: After two BOS hijackings, the DOT/FAA promoted her. This is just one example of the lack of accountability for failure that still exists at the TSA.
Fact: Not one key official responsible for the FAA’s known failures was fired, or even disciplined, after 9/11. Worse, two days after 9/11, the DOT Secretary praised the FAA for its “fine work.”
Fact: The same sloppy, unaccountable, and bureaucratic type of system is in place with the Transportation Security Administration.
