Aviation Data Sources Only Give You Numbers... We Give You Analytical Firepower...
The Firepower You Need In The New Aviation Environment
Airports:USAŽ DataMiner
is the new, reliable resource to analyze a wide range of important data. Traffic and fare
data. Airline financial performance, aircraft costs, market shares, and more.
DataMiner is not just
another information source. It is a powerful tool
that allows you to identify and isolate key trends in the industry. Shifts in capacity,
market share, revenue shares, and much more. DataMiner offers an Airline Analysis
Package that allows immediate access and analysis of airline operational and
financial performance.
You also have access to
current data covering airline schedule, capacity and fleet-application trends, through our
affiliation with Innovata, LLC. You can monitor what airlines are planning at specific
airports. How they are shifting fleets. What their next planning steps might be. In short:
Airports:USAŽ DataMiner
gives you the firepower to meet the future.
Airports:USAŽ DataMiner is the new standard for strategic
aviation planning. It's the only source that not only provides data, but allows you
to immediately analyze the information right on the screen, with easy-to-read downloadable
reports.
Forecast Data Too!
Airports:USAŽ DataMiner is the only source - the only
source - that also gives access to year-by-year enplanement forecasts for 146 of the
nation's airports, representing over 95% of all passenger traffic. Boyd Group
International has been publishing Airports:USAŽ forecasts since 1992, and it the only such data
accomplished independently in the private sector. No political agendas and the forecasts
are updated for each airport throughout the year to reflect the latest changes in airline
schedules and strategies. For more on the exclusive forecast module, click here.
Subscribing to Another Data
Source? Why You Should Switch To DataMiner
Airports:USAŽ DataMiner is far more sophisticated,
accurate, and easier to use than any other data source. It's a tool designed by
aviation professionals for aviation professionals, providing immediate reports
that give you the insight you need instantly, instead of arcane numbers derived from raw
data sources.
Particularly if you're still subscribing to
one of those expensive, printed "quarterly" airport data sources, you'd better
be aware that you've got stale information the day it arrives. DataMiner is live
and updated constantly. With those printed subscriptions, all you can do is look at the
numbers. DataMiner subscribers can immediately analyze the data, putting it to competitive
advantage in planning for the future. And, probably for a lot less money, too.
Delivers Data Fast & With Ease. Our interface
is intuitive and easy to use.Your time is important. So Airports:USA DataMiner is designed
with that in mind. You need data, not complex and confusing report request schemes.
Complete, Formatted Reports. The reports are
formatted and include a range of data you can use immediately. This is an important
feature of DataMiner - we give a range of metrics right away - you don't need to load it
into a spread sheet to waste time finding out what the data mean.
Immediate Data & Strategic Information. DataMiner goes
beyond numbers, with the capability of analyzing the future right on your screen. Not
arcane spreadsheets that display confused columns of jumbled numbers, but immediate
reports providing all the information you need, with headers and key columns you can sort
right away on the screen, plus download to a range of other software. That's the analytical
firepower you need to plan for the new aviation environment.
It's Integrity-Filtered. The DataMiner software reviews
each line of data for accuracy and reasonableness. The way DOT gets the data often has a
lot of mis-reported numbers that require aviation professionals to review.
It's Our Professional Work- Not Somebody Else's.
Amazingly, some alternative sources of aviation data are simply re-packaged and re-sold
as-is from another vendor. Airports:USA DataMiner is better, because we first-source
the data. We take the data and put them through the Airports:USA DataMinerSoftware, which identifies and addresses the "issues" that come
with raw data. We carefully review the data for errors and mis-reporting. We make
corrections and identify where data may be questionable. Professionals of Boyd Group
International are experts in current and emerging airline industry trends.
It Addresses The Real Airline Industry. The
Airports:USA DataMiner software relies on a complex algorithm to aggregate traffic to the
correct carrier system. Other sources assume the "certificated carrier" is the
airline. It's not. Today, most airlines are typically comprised of combinations of
"certificated carriers." To report the passengers carried at ATL by, say, Mesa,
is inaccurate. Those are passengers of Delta, the airline that is leasing the lift
from Mesa. Some other sources either mis-report it as Mesa, or, worse, lazily dump these
passengers into separate, unidentified catch-all category. The DataMiner system, on the
other hand, properly applies these passengers to the airline system leasing the airplane
from the small jet provider.
It Identifies Reporting Errors. It identifies
mis-reported data - and there's a lot more of that than most people realize. Raw data,
which other sources typically just regurgitate and sell, may show Hawaiian Airlines as an
operator at Jackson, Mississippi. Or US Airways as serving Amarillo. DataMiner addresses
these issues.
It Addresses The Challenges of The Hub System. DataMiner
recognizes the shortfalls in current reporting channels. In many cases, traffic generated
by small airports served by small airlines (some code-shared, some not) is not accurately
allocated to the proper connecting destinations. As a result, Cheyenne may show close-by
Denver as its #1 O&D destination, when in fact there really is almost no such traffic.
DataMiner's sophisticated software identifies such cases and makes adjustments.
Sophisticated O&D Reconciliation. The raw DB1B
data are not entirely accurate and must be reconciled against other sources to assure
accurate destinational distribution at hubsite airports. Some other sources attempt this.
Others don't even try. DataMiner is far more sophisticated than any other source. One sign
of really sloppy data: any vendor peddling O&D tables from a mid-size or larger
airport where all the passenger numbers all end in zero. It's likely they just took the
10% DOT sample data and foisted it off on unwary purchasers, with out any reconciliation.
Kept Up-To-Date. Airports:USAŽ data are kept
current. When DOT issues a revision to prior quarters - which is not uncommon - our
subscribers have it right away. Other vendors, even some on-line, and particularly those
peddling static printed reports, are oblivious to this. And so are their customers.
The staff of Boyd
Group International invite you to review the example reports listed above. And don't
hesitate to access the complimentary current airport data available at www.AirportSnapshot.com.
Bottom
Line: If you're planning for the future, you can't rely on semi-accurate or unreliable
data sources. You need Airports:USAŽ DataMiner.
No other source of industry data is as complete, as accurate, or as easy to use.
How
DataMiner Gives The Competitive Edge
Airports:USAŽ DataMiner is designed to be customized to the
specific subscriber. Financial institutions. Airlines. Airports. Manufacturers. Suppliers.
All have varying data needs and Airports:USAŽ provides them precisely and
cost-effectively.
Airlines and financial
planners can isolate where revenue production is weak or below cost-hurdle for all
airlines in the market.
Users can access data by
market, by airport, by airline, by time frame. The data reports are immediately sortable
right on the screen, and can also be downloaded for further
analysis.
Analyze airline
financials and operating metrics. Get direct comparisons of costs by category, by fleet
type, adjusted by stage length. Want to compare United's A-320 costs with those of US
Airways? It's on the screen in seconds with DataMiner.
Want to know the fare
trends in the top 25 markets from a given airport? Easy to do with DataMiner. Which
airlines are capturing that traffic, and over which connecting hubs? And at what fares?
Its immediately available right on the screen. Which airport in a given region is
capturing more traffic to specific destinations? Theres a report that will
immediately compare up to four airports, right on the screen.
DataMiner is an essential
tool to identify traffic trends and airline service weaknesses. Compare through-yields
generated from a specific airport through a specific hub. The relative vulnerability of
one airline or anothers service at the airport can be easily identified.
International data is
also available. The Boyd Group will assist in obtaining the necessary DOT approvals.
Our experience is what
makes DataMiner different, more comprehensive, and more cost-effective. Click on the
reports below to get an idea. Of course, there's not room to review all of the data and
customizable reports available in DataMiner. But you'll get the idea.
And these barely scratch the surface of what DataMiner can provide. Like comprehensive
airline financial reports, including those that are not publicly-traded
Access For
The Real World. Not Programmers
Airports:USAŽ DataMiner
provides an intuitive, easy interface that delivers the information you need quickly and
without any need to navigate through arcane entry pages. No other source is as complete,
as user-friendly, or as cost-efficient. Take a look:
Constantly updated with the latest quarterly filings, this information is available
on-line after DataMiner software filters out to the maximum extent possible inherent
inaccuracies that are natural to sample-derived data. You need accurate information, and
thats what Airports:USAŽ
DataMiner delivers
Airport O&D Report Menu A range of reports can be requested,
listing a selected airport's traffic to and from markets across the nation. Includes key
data such as average gross fares paid, average fares, net yield, and more.
Request data for one or several markets, or ALL of an airport's O&D markets. You can
also just ask for a certain number (for example, the top 25). Request traffic to all three
-- or four -- New York airports, or those in the Los Angeles Basin. Do it by as many
quarters as you need, too. Reports can be sorted by several parameters on-screen and
downloadable as well.
You can
request a quick report on O&D between two airports, or between a set of airports. A
valuable tool to compare total traffic generated in a region, or to create your own
"metro basins." .
This is a
very powerful analysis report that shows the contribution a given market provides through
an airline's hub. Beyond-hub contribution is shown by market and provides the through
yield to each major market. Data is provided by carrier and by hub connect point.
Compare up
to four airports, showing the O&D traffic for each, for the period you choose. This is
an incisive tool to identify airport service deficiencies to key destinations compared to
other regional airport competitors.
DataMiner
gives you the ability to identify total O&D between major metro basins, such as NYC
and the San Francisco Bay Area. Quickly identify traffic flows between population centers.
Remember, too, you can create your own metro basins with the basic O&D reports. And
you can further analyze traffic within a basin with the Compare Airports O&D options.
With DataMiner, you can quickly triangulate your analyses to get to the data and insights
you need..
Airports:USAŽ DataMiner subscribers have access to the
airline side of the traffic and fare equation, too. And there are fast, custom reports
that give a wealth of immediate data and analysis.
Compare up
to four airports, showing the O&D traffic for each, for the period you choose. This is
an incisive tool to identify airport service deficiencies to key destinations compared to
other regional airport competitors. .
Determine an
airline system's O&D from a given airport. Reports provide passengers, fares (gross
& net) yields, originating percentage, and routing efficiency to each destination. The
latter metric can give insight into the total distance a carrier takes to deliver
passengers to key destinations - showing competitive advantage or disadvantage with other
carriers. This specific report includes
passengers carried into or out of the selected airport on the carrier chosen, including
those whose journey included an interline connection.
Identical to
the above report, except the data include only passengers whose entire journey was on the
selected carrier system.
Note that
DataMiner, unlike other sources, reports data by airline system, not certificated carrier,
which is inaccurate. SkyWest, for example is a "certificated carrier" but they
do not carry their own passengers, as they are in business of leasing aircraft and crews
to major airlines. DataMiner identifies this, and applies SkyWest-reported passengers to
the brand that leases their aircraft.
All
subscribers to the O&D reports, regardless of level, also receive the T-100 report
capability. This provides load factors by airport and by certificated operator (note, not
the carrier brand) and by aircraft type. Data are provided back to year 2000, by month.
T-100 data require a strong knowledge of airline industry structure to interpret. By
DataMiner allows you to enter filters to sort out "one-off" reports that can
skew the information.
Other Airline-Related Data
& Analysis Reports
Airports:USAŽ DataMiner
subscribers have access to the airline side of the traffic and fare equation, too. And
there are fast, custom reports that give a wealth of immediate data and analysis.
Being able to project future capacity and
operations is a critical part of the analysis of the future. In cooperation with Innovata,
LLC,Airports:USAŽ
DataMiner offers comprehensive airline schedule and capacity data.
Its updated weekly, which gives a picture of the latest airline strategies
strategies that can and do change frequently.DataMiner
allows you to analyze capacity shifts at hubs, at regional airports, and across the nation
by airline and even by aircraft type. The latter can give strong indications of a
carriers fleet strategies going forward.
The Airline Schedule &
Capacity Package is also tailored to the subscribers specific needs, with four
suggested package options. The first is schedules and capacity for a single airport
perfect for a small airport that's only interested in data that affects it directly. The
second is a four-airport package, which is great for subscribers who want to keep watch on
several airports in a region. The third is the complete domestic schedule, comprising all
US airports. The fourth is complete domestic and international schedules
Available
to O&D subscribers of any level, Schedule and Capacity data can be provided for a
single airport, multiple airports of the client's choice, or all US airports.
International schedules are also available.
The DataMiner Airline Financial & Data
Analysis Package provides numerous immediate reports on carrier performance. But it also
gives you the ability to run analytics adjusted for the cost metrics you enter. Do
analyses of future shifts in fuel cost at a given airline. Do it by aircraft type. Or
adjusted for stage length. Compare ASM costs between fleet types, and between airline
operators. In addition to Form-41 reports, you
can sort and compare data within each carriers individual context and operational
structure. You can review fleet costs, expense areas, and compare shifts and trends within
the industry and within each carrier.
Planning and forecasting
airline performance has never been easier. Of course, DataMiner also provides the
ability to track historical airline cost trends as well.
Sourced
from Form-41 reports, professionals at The Boyd Group carefully review the information for
errors, omissions, and differing "interpretations" of categories. Key reports
can be accessed, with the ability to sort and compare metrics between airlines. Another
DataMiner feature is the ability to do "what-if" analyses of airline
performance, based on inputs regarding fuel and other costs.
DataMiner
has the option of international O&D traffic reports, with several subscription options
- single airport, multiple airports, or all US airports. Subscribers must be US citizens
and pre-approval is required from the DOT, a process that The Boyd Group can accomplish
for the client.
Knowledge Is Power. DataMiner
Delivers It
Data includes O&D
traffic and fare data going back to year 2000, including domestic and (optional)international traffic. DataMiner subscribers can
access immediate reports and begin customized analysis.
Fares, market shares,
yields (net and nonstop), routing efficiency, and a host of other information is included
in each report.Users can identify hub flows
passengers,
revenue, yields that identify strength, weakness, and in this environment
vulnerability of specific hubsite service, or a specific market. From this data,
airports and planners can craft programs to enhance and strengthen service. Or identify
coming weaknesses in service at competitive airports.
Unlike other sources,
Airports:USAŽ DataMiner is not just regurgitated DOT, airline and government information.
As aviation planning professionals ourselves, The Boyd Group understands that better, more
incisive, and more accurate data is needed. We've put our nearly quarter century of
experience in planning, research and consulting into developing Airports:USAŽ DataMiner.
You determine the level of
data and financial analysis you neet. And it's cost effective - as low as $200 per month
(with an annual subscription) for an airport's O&D, fare, traffic, market share,
airline share, and T-100 data. Updated quarterly. And available back to year 2000. No
other source offers this level of accuracy, analytical ability, and cost-effectiveness.
All components of
DataMiner can be subscribed to individually or in whatever combinations you need.
Below are suggestions, and indications of just how cost-effective the power of DataMiner
really is.
Basic Package.
If youre subscribing to one of those printed quarterly traffic data
subscriptions, cancel it as soon as possible. DataMiner is the better alternative.
It provides more current data, more accurate
data, and its available and sortable on-line, too. Those expensive, and often
inaccurate, quarterly printed subscriptions dont give you Schedule &
Capacity Data, updated weekly. This you can include in your subscription and still be
spending thousands less.
Also unlike some of those
quarterly publications, DataMiner understands the airline industry. For
example, it knows that an airport having flights operated by Pinnacle and Mesaba is not
served by two airlines, as some of those quarterly services
mis-report. The traffic is Northwest, one system. And, youll note, that even when
adding in the optional international traffic option (requires approval from DOT),
DataMiner is still thousands of dollars less than these inaccurate printed
quarterlies.
Basic Advanced
Package. This is the Basic Package, but includes four airports. Four
airports O&D. Four airports Schedule & Capacity Data. Four
airports international O&D (DOT approval required).
This is a great option for
airports or aviation authorities that want to keep an eye on regional airport competitors,
or on airports in a metro basin. And, again, this data for four airports is
still substantially less expensive than many of those printed quarterly
subscriptions.
Of course, this is just a
package suggestion. Airports:USAŽ
DataMiner can be tailored to the subscribers specific needs.
Airline &
Financial Institution Package. For air carriers and financial institutions that
are involved extensive analysis of the airline space, Airports:USAŽ DataMiner is the new planning tool that can
assist in identifying strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities at specific airlines and
within the industry itself.
As outlined, the suggested
package includes O&D traffic and fare data for every US airport, full domestic
schedule & capacity access, and full airline financial & analytical reports. Note
that these packages are only suggestions. Each component is available as a stand-alone.
